Guidance Center

The Saint Joseph School Guidance Center facilitates students’ transformation by continuously enhancing their personal development and growth as a wise, compassionate, and virtuous Josephian.

Each student is given access to the following Guidance Center services:

Counseling

Competent counseling staff and trained peer facilitators assist students in understand themselves and their environment while helping them navigate challenges. Follow-up sessions ensure that students develop appropriate responses to difficult situations.

We also provide responsive counseling and immediate intervention for students with urgent concerns that may affect their academic, personal, or social well-being. When necessary, we facilitate referrals to third-party resources or experts for more complex cases.

Services include:

  • Individual and group counseling
  • Academic remedial assistance
  • Consultation with staff, parents, and community agencies
  • Referral to professional resource

Testing

Counselors administer and interpret psychological assessments to evaluate students’ behavioral tendencies. These tests serve as tools to provide informed counseling and guidance.

Services include:

  • Entrance examination for transferees and new students
  • Administration and interpretation of the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test (OLSAT)

Career development

 We aspire for our students to pursue fulfilling and meaningful careers. The Guidance Center prepares them early by helping them discover their abilities and potential, make informed decisions about university education, and equip themselves with the necessary tools to achieve their aspirations.

Services include:

  • Senior High School Orientation for Grades 9 and 10 students and their parents
  • Career orientation for Grades 11 and 12 students

      Homeroom guidance

      This service assists Class Advisers in designing and implementing the Homeroom Guidance Program (HGP) to help students develop greater self-awareness, self-understanding, and self-acceptance. Homeroom sessions focus on values formation, attitude development, study habits, social etiquette, and leadership skills.

      Additionally, homeroom serves as a space where students can discover their strengths, embrace their giftedness, and become witnesses to their faith, promoting social transformation.

      Individual inventory

      The Guidance Center gathers and safely keeps student records to help counselors, teachers, and administrators gain a more comprehensive understanding of each student before counseling sessions.

      Routine individual interviews are also conducted to proactively identify student concerns and provide necessary support.
